If some more-powerful

Whatever happened to the First Comandment of Internationalism (and of the First International): THe emancipation of the working class can be achieved only by the self-activity of the working class itself? What this "democracy from above" attityude reveals is a corrupt version of democratic commitment that bears the same relatioon to democracy that the idea of socialism from above, urged by Fabians and Stalinists (in different ways, of course) bears to socialism. We'll see how democratic these new institutions are as soon as their populace demands that they do something fundamentally opposedto US interests.
