<P>a) my thesis is a response to the prevailing orthodoxy (UNDP, World Bank etc) on inequality&nbsp;which according to the the UNDP <SPAN lang=EN-US>is “measured by the difference between the world’s poorest and the world’s richest” (Kaul <EM>et al </EM>1999: xix)</SPAN></P>
