WASHINGTON - An American soldier and a U.S. reporter traveling with U.S. forces were killed in an accident involving their Humvee military jeep, U.S. defense officials said Friday.
The circumstances and cause of the accident were still under investigation, the officials said.
The identities of the two people killed were being withheld pending notification of their families.

I made a phone call & got confirmation. It is not being announced by the magazine because they want to make sure the family is notified first. I told my contact that it was already on the radio & the internet & sent them this link.

I heard Sam Donaldson's report. Michael was riding in a HUMVEE that went off the road outside Baghdad and into a canal. Both he and his driver were drowned. No telling why...maybe the driver fell asleep, maybe there was smoke.
Another good one gone. Damn.
