His polemics were awful.  His columns from the
front were pretty good.  His book on Gulf War I
is pretty good.  You can see ideological bias in
it in a few places, but on the whole it's either
great reporting or ingenious fiction.

The only other thing I'll say is that anyone
indifferent to or callous in re: the  death of
another has not given much consideration to their
mortality.
