Back during Iran-Contra, Partisan Review editor William Phillips commissioned a piece by Ledeen, an apologia for the imperial Presidency.An uproar ensued among the editorial advisors. Daniel Bell and a few others resigned. Was written up in the Washington Post. Bell's break with the neo- cons is related in a piece he wrote for the 50th anniversary issue of PR.
