[lbo-talk] Iraq war "clearer" to Americans than WW 2

There is an excellent movie about The White Rose (that is the English title) by the guy who also did The Nasty Girl, a based-on-a-true-story film about a Munich girl who discovers her friends' and family's complicity with Nazism, and isn't, uh, welcomed for her efforts. --- Horrible moviw.

Not meaning to get into family history, but nobody has a friggin' clue what my grandfather on the German side did during the war that warranted him spending four years (until 1948!) in British and then US POW camps. Never talked about it, except when he got drunk and would start ranting something obscure about a firing squad in Italy. Must have been pretty nasty, whatever it was. He was unable to acknowledge the existence of the Holocaust until his death, ardent Hitlerian to the end, even though the Nazis had sterilized his mother. The power of self-delusion people have is extraordinary.
