Good question.  My $0.02US: they made actual what was only potential. 
Whether that means they fucked up the world or made the real situation
obvious I don't know, but I'm inclined to say that there's no contradiction;
in fucking things up, they made things clear--but only but fucking things
up could they make things clear.
