-Let me see if I've got this straight - accepting money from a foreign -power that has spent 40 years trying to overthrow a government is -within the bounds of free speech? Is there any government on earth -that would tolerate that?

Officially, the Soviet Union was trying to overthrow the US system, which is one reason they were funding the CPUSA. Everything people say seems to be supporting McCarthy in his arguments.
