Many libertarians will freely admit that they don't favor democracy so much as constitutional republics--where the constitutions severely limit democracy (to put it tendentiously but simply, libertarians don't want the masses to take their stuff away). Of course, I think most all of us agree that a sustainable democracy requires some limits to, say, eliminate the possibility that the people could elect a dictator for life.
