Subject: [lbo-talk] California cuts still in budget

This just in the email --------How far will $8.3 billion (what Davis

proposed) go?

Marta

Coalition for Healthy Communities,

Remember to join in the "Community Tour to Save our Services" on

Thursday, April 24 at 11:00am---a walking tour intended to highlight

vital public services that could be reduced or eliminated by state

budget cuts (please review and distribute the attached flyer). The

current state budget crisis poses a serious threat to local

communities. Services such as healthcare, education, and public

safety would be severely compromised by deep cuts proposed by the

Governor and state legislators in their efforts to close a $34.6

billion (and rising) budget deficit.

Please join other community leaders, elected officials, doctors,

nurses, teachers, librarians, and public safety officials in a united

appeal for a balanced solution to the state budget crisis that

includes new revenues to avoid deep cuts. The tour will begin at the

East L.A. Sheriff Station then proceed past a park, library,

courthouse, health center, and end at Griffith Middle School.

We look forward to seeing you there!
