I've had a spirited to-and-fro with him in past few days myself, but he's avoided going this route, despite me telling him his work of late is "warmed-over P.J. O'Rourke," etc. Hitch wants to save my historical soul, saying that I still have time to join the "right side" of events, and that I would be welcome there.

I have tremendous affection for him, but if being on the "right side" means linking arms with Jeane Kirkpatrick (whom he says got Bosnia "right") and David Horowitz, then I guess it's eternal damnation for me.
