If I understand Brad's somewhat partisan line, he is sneering at conservatives who made fun of Clinton's humanitarian intervention and nationbuilding efforts, but support Bush's oil imperialism and nationbuilding in Iraq. It's just puzzling in the present context, because there aren't any people like that around here. A few (like you? and Brad and Nathan supported humanitarian intervention in the Balkans), but practically nobidy here supporterd the Iraq war, and no one opposed the Balkan war and supported the Iraq war, Maybe on the Weekly Standard maillist . . . . The sad thing it it obviously doesn't mattera hoot at home whether thr Iraqis had any WMD. As an excuse that is long forgotten. Americans don't even know, and so do not care, that they were lied to. (I wonder whether this bothers Hitch though, after going on so long about Clinton's mendacity.) And so we get Bushies saying, well, no WMD,. big deal, that was just an emphasis thing, we really went in to give young Arab men hope so they wouldn't fly planes into buildings. (I couldn't make this up.) But ordinary Americans just take it as just vengeance excated for 9/11, as indeed they will the wars on Syria, North Korea, Iran, and Cuba. I promise you that when Bush invades Cuba in Sept. 2004, more than 50% of the public will believe that Castro ordered the 9/11 atacks and that the hijackers were Cubans.

Would you mind explaining what you mean here?
