sysadmin humor. if i have to suffer obscure references to video games i've never heard of (and i could have remained happy and fulfilled in that state) from drr daily, you too will suffer with obscure references to my profession!
lart is an acronym for "luser attitude readjustment tool", work out the rest for yourself. or see the newsgroup alt.sysadmin.recovery or google BOFH.

This is a line from a song by the hip hop band "The Coup" who has been previously discussed on this list and it is not intended to be humorous.

well perhaps. but i think this thread has wondered off into defining humour and has gotten rather fixated on it. my over all complaint (see the subject line i chose) was not *only* the lack of humour, but the lack of aesthetic appeal of any kind. kinda like the way Mao suits were pretty drab...
for some counter examples of drab, i'll offer Bitch and Baffler. for non-drab w/o pretty colors or graphics, try the current(? last winter's #34) issue of New Politics which I read last weekend. Yeah, it's b&w and text only, but it is nicely typeset in a readable font on good paper. the content is largely (unexplained) jargon free (which makes it more accessible than, say, Monthly Review and they have a very healthy correspondence section. i always forgot i like reading this thing until i stumble over one in the bookstore. . .
