as you may know, luke, the winner of the election would be decided by simple
majority.   unless these voters unite behind a particular candidate, the
total isn't particularly significant.   there are several more republicans
in the race than democrats

The four leading Republicans captured 47% of the poll total.  That isn't
good news.
