Skepticism is warranted. Christian Parenti says he experienced no hostility towards him as an American when he was in Baghdad - not a trace. But he said Iraqis make fine distinctions between people and their governments, because of their own experience under a wretched regime. Still, I suspect that Iraqis' attitudes toward the U.S. are a lot more ambivalent than purely hostile.
