My favorite mentor used to like to recite the claim that the first to be 
shot after any revolution have been the sociologists and those the 
discipline claims as its sociological ancestors.

I don't know if it's true, but it sure impressed the hell out of the first 
years to whom he was introducing the joys of a German-style introductory 
course. HA!
