--actually, they're two sides of the same coin. the neo-cons who want Bush to do battle with China are looking for much the same thing those who want him to cooperate with China, namely the greater privatization of China's economy. The main difference lies not in attitudes toward human rights or Taiwan but in the pace at which they want to push China to privatize. The whole Taiwan issue is largely a bargaining chip that the neocons hope to use to pressure China to submit its economy to the will of foreign (i.e. American) capital.
