--well, the problem is what is better than Ali's analysis? One that says that the US is just making a bunch of bungling errors, has nothing to do with hegemonic interests, and we can replace Bush with a leader who will do enlightened things in Iraq? Ali's use of the (to us) all familiar General Butler is maybe a bit much, but the rest of his analysis at least reflects on the ground realities, which beats wishful thinking about what 'we would like the US to do in Iraq'...
