I don't know if this is a fair charge. He hasa  very
critical but symptahetic history of The Rise and Fall
of the American Left that is fairly recent that did
not strike ne as neocon. Conservative liberal, rather,
sympathetic to left ideals in a broad sense, utterly
disillusioned about left practice.
