It's certainly better than seeing him in one of his palaces, surrounded by bodyguards, denouncing cabinet members prior to having them dragged off somewhere.

-BORING. what about the "rape rooms"? can't ya give us something sexier like rape rooms than bodyguards and cabinet members being dragged off to scare us? ------------------------------------------------ As for this 'dehumanizing' business... how does this work, exactly? People get medical examinations all the time. News reports of starvation victims in Somalia included occasional shots of health workers examining them, too.

--it's all relative. listening to Minnesota Public Radio this morning, http://server-us.imrworldwide.com/cgi-bin/b?cg=news-clickthru&ci=us-mpr&tu=h ttp://news.mpr.org/play/audio.php?media=/midday/2003/12/15_midday1 this morning the liberal Iraqi sociologist Abbas Mehdi, whose family was forced out of Iraq by Saddam, there was quite a solid foundation for feelings of national humiliation on the part of Iraqis upon seeing Saddam subjected to such treatment by foreign occupiers. He's a victim of Saddam, if it's not hard for him to see why Iraqis would feel that way, why would it be so hard for an American liberal to see it? The bigger question is will we ever see a Pinochet or Suharto subjected to such treatment? For that matter, was Saddam any worse than the Botha gang in South Africa that was subjected to a truth and reconciliation commission instead of American justice?

This is all the stuff of farce and victors' justice invariably, it'll be interesting to see how long this triumphalism lasts. After Uday and Kusay it lasted about 4 days I think... ------------------------------------
