[lbo-talk] Book advice

I'm looking for a book for my friend on the subject of
living on the poverty line in the UK to give as a
Christmas present. The one she specified is Polly
Toynbee's Hard Work, but I don't really want to buy
anything by Polly Toynbee. The obvious choice is the
Nickel and Dimed, but that deals with the US. 
Are Fran Abrams' Below the Breadline or Nick Davies'
Dark Heart any good?
Does anybody know of any others?
