I think that the discussion was how to present a clear and compelling argument for the decriminalization of abortion.

If the act of abortion is seen as a social behavior characteristic of human life, perhaps with the goal of self preservation, then it can be studied, and to study any phenomenon you seem to need to eliminate as many variables as possible. Criminalization is an unnecessary and destructive variable to the understanding of abortion.

If the desire is there, the reduction of abortion as a social phenomenon can be brought to possibility by studying it's social stimulus.

This would of course require broad social support to enable -and social change is difficult.
