Free speech is under attack everywhere, but you can make a difference. Actor and peace activist Dave Clennon stuck his neck out the other night on Hannity's talk show, and now some apparently want him fired from his CBS series. He likened the US to Nazi Germany on television, so those who support the war against Iraq want him purged from acting.
Wherever people are protesting for labor rights, civil rights, peace or justice, there you'll find Dave Clennon, one of the most committed, progressive actors in Hollywood.
David Clennon, CBS star of 'The Agency' Some of you know David Clennon; for those of you who don't, he is an actor who often plays in progressive films (e.g., Missing), and many TV series. He is also a long-time activist who many of us know from the Solidarity movements and labor struggles. He is really a fine person, and it is very frightening that he could lose his job for expressing his opinion.
The website below is conducting an unscientific 'poll' that they will send on to 'decision makers' at CBS. As of Friday afternoon, blacklisting David is currently winning big in the poll, but we have made gains.
As of 1pm PST Friday Yes (14,471) (63%) No (8,658) (37%)
As of 8 pm PST Saturday Yes (17,120) (57%) No (12,937) (43%)
We have an obligation to vote for free speech. Vote now and tell your friends. This is a case where we can make a difference. Please spread the word
