David Harvey in a new collection, "Marxism and Modernity, " edited by Robert J. Antonio, has a nice set of reflections on the trajectory of Marxism as a movement and theory, in his life as a scholar/activist.
One funny bit was when he said the Geography Dept.poobahs, where he has taught a, "Reading Capital, " class since the early 70's, took a decade to figure out it was on Capital, Vol. I.
He starts the essay quoting a Wall Street broker friend of his who offers the opinion that Marx was right about the crisis of capitalism, then segues into comments on young New Leftists anti-intellectualism in the early 70's.
