You're quoting me saying things I didn't say, as can easily be verified by lookint at what I did say. But I also said ina na earlier post that thsi is a distraction, and it is. These "free speech" things are quite literally a diversion from the content of the speech, and we are also continuiing to give air time to backchat about the supposedly malign influence of the WWP, when that influence is manifestly nonexistent. We are not talking about the war on Iraq. Maybe Brad thinks we are building the movement by this sort of discussion. I think most people find it a bore and a distraction. We will not overcome the, uh, doubts of the Corns, Altermans, and Gitlins, nor, apparently, the unceasing propensity of "Rabbi" Lerner, Ph.D, towards self promotion (when I dripped my sub to Tikkun because it supported the last Gulf war, I wrote a letter to the editor, which Tikkun did not publish, but Lerner wrote me a letter which he signed in this manner. He's insufferable.). So what exactly

is the point of this exercise? jks

It should hardly be viewed as a 'distraction' from the 'real work', and not be artificially counterposed to 'objective reality'. It IS part of the work, it is part of the same objective reality.

I appreciate your comments, but I have a question. Why do we have to pit discussion of this issue against "opposing the war". Does this issue weakens anybody's (on either side of the issue) resolve against the war? Is anybody on this list devoting time to this discussion that would otherwise be used to go out and organize? It does not weaken my resolve and it is not wasting time I could be using to organize against the war (it is, however, facilitating my efforts to "fuck off" at work ;)
