"At Fort Drum, N.Y., where many members of the Massachusetts National Guard

are drilling before their deployment, one regular Army soldier voiced

his opposition to action against Iraq and said he would attend today's

protest in New York. I love the Army, and I love the lifestyle,'' said

Specialist Travis Burnham, 23, of West Palm Beach, Fla. ''But I can't

see the justification in this. I really believe it's something the UN

can resolve.''

Gulf Coast had its rally at the Bayfront Island Park in Sarasota. News is saying 2200. There were smaller protests in St Pete, Tampa, Clearwater. A gloriously warm sunny day. We drove a small caravan: plastered with peace signs, bumper stickers, bucs flags,(heh), rwb pom poms, and honked all along the way. Having only learned about Code Pink recently, I rilly rilly wish I'd known in time.

I hate pink, but I do wonder what it'd be like to drive a Barbie 'Vette Against Empire with, "This is MY patriot act!"

Rallied first, then walked to a prominent corner to witness for peace (Women in Black, Quakers, Friends, Grandparents for Peace, a ton o' Greens, classic faith-based peace groups, interdenominational peace groups, Pups for Peace, Greens seem to have grown hugely down here!). Lots of older folks, soccer moms, some yoots, dogs!, lots of kids, stollers. Brought the whole famdamily and lots of neighbors kids--coz I need to indoctrinate them early. One of these kids has one of the best raps about White Boys Doing War that it'd make you wet your pants. He should have been the speaker--who we didn't really listen. (fershame)

I did so love the woman with two beautiful Rotties wearing sandwich signs that said: Piss on Bush! (that was in St. Pete, I think)

There were plenty of signs that said, "Who Would Jesus Bomb?"

Lots of anger at Bush (sooprize!) :: Bush: An Empty Warhead really is Dangerous :: Frodo failed. Bush has the ring :: Time to Trim the Shrub :: Asses of Evil: Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld :: A village in Texas lost its idiot

Lots of peace insignia at the State Fair, too. got rained out, though.
