My personal opinion is that this has nothing to do with racism. It has to do with the administration agenda. Lott was seen as an obstruction. His ouster was maneuvered from the WH.
Racism was the vehicle of his removal rather than the cause. Without racism another reason would have had to be found to remove him. Racism is an invaluable political tool just like any other source of divisiveness.
The day that racism is removed from politics I'll also expect a _cure_ for a disease to come from a pharmaceutical company. ;->
