Could I just throw into this debate the factoid that a frighteningly high proportion of young African-American males are in some way clients of the "correctional" system, and therefore it is sheer common sense on their part not to associate with any group that might get them involved in a conflict with the police? In fact, I would call it downright irresponsible to attempt to recruit people to a movement that is likely to get them thrown in jail.
