No, it's about how to explain racial oppression. What gave rise to racial oppression? What still maintains it, albeit with constant modification? Racism? That explanation is tautological.

C.L.R. James put it this way in _The Black Jacobins_: "The race question is subsidiary to the class question in politics, and to think of imperialism in terms of race is disastrous. But to neglect the racial factor as merely incidental is an error only less grave than to make it fundamental."
