Since most of the victims of the IMF are "people of color," shouldn't there be more solidarity coming from Americans of color? Why isn't there? Doug

First because the left no matter what its particulars hasn't made the analytical and rhetorical connection explicitly between local issues and global ones. And second the US establishment with all its media, spends enormous efforts to obscure that same connection. And last, most importantly, most people in the US, whatever their color spend a fair amount of time hiding the linkage from themselves---by attempting to extend whatever limited privilege they have as a buffer between themselves and the rest of the world---out of fear they will end up in the same conditions.
