incidentally, continuing to spin out associations, said bishop pike was an important figure in philip k dick's later life, especially. dick even wrote a novel featuring pike as a secondary character: _the transmigration of timothy archer_, the third book in dick's valis trilogy (along with _valis_ and _the divine invasion_), a bizarre but, imo, interesting little piece of quasi-theological sf.

indeed, rael/vilhon's account of his experience and views reads like a mish-mash of old sf, most especially--but not only--phil dick (and not just the valis books).
