> Writing in the London Review of Books, Malcolm Bull
BTW, quite aside from the issue of what it means when you quote other people's reviews, I thought Malcolm Bull's review was thought provoking. He tries to place Empire in the larger tradition of political philosophy. (Warning: he does take quite a few paragraphs clearing his throat before he finally gets down to the Hobbes and Spinoza stuff.) It's available online at

He treats the book very seriously. But he does call them "Jeffersonians," which for some people might be fightin' words :o)
