The same also works for Latinos - as far as I can remember.  I used to
teach at a community college in CA and heard some horror stories from
Latina women how their families and friends discouraged their education.
They tend to be staunchly Catholic and anti-abortion and anti-gay.  If
memory serves, Labor Party refused to take a position on abortion to
avoid pissing off catholic sentiments of Latino supporters.
