Further, in the last election, Lapid made it clear that he is NOT for a complete separation of church and state. He wants to make sure that the Jewish character of the state is safe-guarded.
Shinui voted in favor of the 2003 State Budget. It supports widespread privatization of government corporations and the prevention of government interference in commercial matters and the party supports government support for entrepreneurs.
However, most people do not follow closely the Shinui party platform. Many hear their crys against the religious parties and they want a separation of Church (synagogue) and State. They don't know that what he wants is merely an end to all forms of welfare (religious and secular).
I would vote Shas over Shinui any day. (not that I am going to vote for either of them, I am voting Hadash).
