All I said was that JJ was a fan of Buckley, which he is and which I find strange; he doesn't strike me as an admirable right winger. I didn't say JJ was a right winger. I am perfectly used to being called a right wing. petty bourgeois apologist for capitalism. If you are a liberal democratic fan of markets, it comes with the territory. I don't even care if I am right wing in some respects. I want to hold true and defensible positions, not ones that happen to fit somewhere on someone's political map. jks Michael Pugliese <debsian at pacbell.net> wrote:And Justin, a demogogue could say that you being a fan of Hayek would position you on the Right too. Judis, still cites Martin J. Sklar, "The Corporate Reconstruction of American Capitalism, " and William Appleman Williams. But, has also written favorably on Russell Kirk in the, "New Oxford Review, " a conservative Catholic magazine in the 80's. There Judis called himself a, "conservative socialist, " just like a S.M. Lipset or Will Herberg. BTW, the Liberation articles by Radosh on his Cuba trip are collected in, 'The New Cuba?" Radosh gave a slide show after his return in David McReynolds Village digs.

"Without knowing that we knew nothing, we went on talking without listening to each other. Sometimes we flattered and praised each other, understanding that we would be flattered and praised in return. Other times we abused and shouted at each other, as if we were in a madhouse." -Tolstoy
