DAVOS /SWITZERLAND/, JANUARY 22, 2003. (FROM RIA NOVOSTI CORRESPONDENT)--The successes of the Russian economic development over the past few years will be one of the most important issues to be discussed at the World Economic Forum scheduled for January 23rd-28th in the small Alpine town of Davos, Switzerland. The plenary session "Europe and Russia: New Partnership" will be held in the Fluela hotel in the evening, January 25th, the organising committee of the Davos Forum reported.
The Forum participants will thoroughly analyse such problems as relations between Russia on the one side and the European Union and NATO, on the other, including on the eve of a new big enlargement of the EU to the east and the planned admission of new members to NATO.
The situation obtaining around the Russian exclave - the Kaliningrad region, and prospects of Russia's joining the World Trade Organisation, to which most European countries are going to contribute, will be highlighted during the discussion of Moscow-EU relations.
The dependence of Europe on Russian energy markets as well as mutual relations inside the triangle Russia-EU-USA will also be considered.
The heads of LUKOIL and YUKOS oil giants, Vagit Alekperov and Mikhail Khodorkovsky, as well as other well-known Russian businessmen and energy experts will take part in discussions on economic and energy issues.
The prices of oil and oil products will also be discussed. The plenary session devoted to this issue will be addressed by OPEC director general Alvaro Silva Calderon, president of the Saudi Aramco Saudi Arabian oil company Abdallah S. Jum'ah and adviser of the Russian president Andrei Illarionov.
The results of the discussion of the Russian problems at the Davos Forum will be summed up on the last day of its work, January 28th.
