His approval rating just slipped below 60% for the first time since 9/11. In the poll Gallup completed on 9/10/01, he was at 51% approve and 39% disapprove. In the 9/22/01 poll, it was 90/6. In the 1/10/03 poll, it was 58/37. His approval rating is falling an average of 2 percentage points a month, so if it continues to erode at this rate, it should be around 14% by election day 2004!
Approval doesn't necessarily translate into votes; I saw one poll recently that said that only 45% of respondents would vote for the guy.
