The Bureau of Labor Statistics claims that Texas has 493,000 union members (out of 597,000 workers represented by unions). These numbers are 5.6% and 6.7% of the labor force, respectively. North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia all have lower union percentages. Michigan, Hawaii, Alaska, and New York have the highest.
