MEMBERSHIP ASSISTANT POSITIONS FOR FEBRUARY MEMBERSHIP DRIVE FEBRUARY 12 - 28th, 2003

WBAI February's Membership drive will start on Wednesday February 12th, 2003and is scheduled to end on Saturday February 28th, 2003.

This will be a 2-½ week Fundraising Project and we are hiring membership assistants to help us with this drive.

The membership assistant will work in the tally room during the drive and assist volunteers with completing the pledge cards correctly with all the necessary member and premium information. The assistant will be responsible for accurate and timely record keeping in the tally book and reporting to management staff.

This temporary position has three shifts: the early morning shift is 6 am to 12 noon; the afternoon shift is 12 noon to 6 pm and the evening shift is 6 pm to 12 midnight. For the second week of the drive beginning February 16th and ending February 22 nd, 2003 there is an overnight shift for this week only, (12 midnight to 6 am).

MEMBERSHIP DRIVE PRODUCTION ASSISTANT FOR FEBRUARY'S ---2003 MEMBERSHIP DRIVE TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT

WBAI needs a Membership Drive Production Assistant to produce audiotape and CD audio masters for the February 2003 Fund Drive. This is a temporary, part-time position for a month beginning on February 15th, 2003 and ending March 15th, 2003.

The duties include editing and completing master audiotapes and CDs for programs done during the WBAI February membership drive as assigned by the Program Director or the department directors of Public Affairs or Arts. The work schedule will be only for the production of membership drive materials with production taking place in the Production Studio-Control Room #2 and the Edit Suite Studio.

The production assistant will prepare and submit all master tapes. CDs, or other materials that are premiums to the General Manager first who will log them in and then route them to the development department. The development department will arrange for the duplication and fulfillment for our members.

Qualifications:

Demonstrated experience and knowledge of audio principles, practices and techniques; excellent audio editing skills in tape and CD formats. Working knowledge and experience with digital/computer editing; able to produce to meet station deadlines; able to use station equipment for this assignment in Production/Control Room #2 and the Edit Suite digital editors; Able to work a schedule with some flexibility for morning, daytime or evening hours when necessary.

Position: WBAI Morning Show Host Wake Up Call

WBAI-Pacifica Radio has an immediate opening for Host/Producer for the WBAI Morning Show- Wake Up Call. It is a full-time position that requires an experienced host to pilot one of the station's signature programs. The responsibilities include preparation, research, planning of topics and guests, conducting on-air interviews and other segments, working with production staff, program fund-raising duties and other activities. The position requires an early morning, weekday schedule working under the supervision of the program director. The position carries the full AFTRA benefits package.

Job Requirements:

* Must be dedicated to the concepts of peace and justice for all.

* Work with a production team to produce a morning (drive-time) magazine serving a multi-cultural, multi-racial community.

* Must participate in the selection of topics, the securing of guests and the organization of the program.

* Must participate in the securing and training of interns.

Required skills:

Position: WBAI NEWS: MORNING NEWS REPORTER

WBAI - Pacifica Radio is known as one of the foremost stations in community radio with strong news and public affairs programming focus. The Morning News Reporter position is a half time job that requires experienced reportorial skills in recording, writing, editing production and on- air delivery as the news anchor of the station's morning show - Wake Up Call. This position is half-time at union scale and requires 17.5 hours per week on a weekday schedule. The position reports to the WBAI News Director.

Job responsibilities include:

¨ Produce news headlines and stories for the Morning Show on local, national or international issues.

¨ On air news delivery as news anchor for this program.

¨ Conduct interviews in field or in studio and prepare material for the newscast/updates.

¨ Prepare breaking stories for air or special reports for the Morning show.

¨ Assist with the editing or production of other reporter's or volunteer's news work for the morning show broadcast.

¨ Provide assistance and training to news interns or volunteers who may want to contribute to the morning show.

Participate in all station fund drives and other special projects as assigned

Qualifications include:

¨ Demonstrated experience of at least 3 years in news reporting including broadcast or print journalism.

¨ Excellent recording, editing, writing, production skills in news or public affairs.

¨ Excellent on-air delivery and speaking skills required.

¨ Knowledge and/or experience with local, national and international issues are very helpful.

¨ Knowledge of New York and regional issues affecting the tri-state area are very helpful.

¨ Able to work in a diverse workplace in a major urban market.

¨ Knowledge of and commitment to Pacifica's mission and the principles of community broadcasting.

College experience or degree very desirable.

Position: WBAI CO-COORDINATOR OF DEVELOPMENT

This is a position for a development professional to manage on and off air projects for the station. This includes knowledge of and experience with direct mail, telemarketing, renewals, members and audience research tools, major gifts, planned giving and on-air fund drives. The responsibilities include: development, planning and executing major donor and planned giving projects. The coordinator will represent WBAI to current and potential financial supporters. This half-time position with AFTRA benefits reports to and is supervised and evaluated by the General Manager.

General Responsibilities include:

¨ Plan, implement and supervise all income projects such as direct mail, renewals, telemarketing, major donor and planned giving projects and evaluate their effectiveness.

¨ Supervise and coordinate with other station management staff the work of volunteers and effectiveness.

¨ Plan and supervise the station's major donor program.

¨ Develop and coordinate the station's development calendar.

¨ Plan and produce the development income and expenses budget for the station and monitor for performance and meeting of station goals.

Coordinate the development reporting for the station with the national office.

Qualifications include:

¨ Extensive experience with key development areas such as direct mail, telemarketing, renewals, audience and member research, major gifts and working knowledge of planned giving.

¨ Must be a self-starter with professional skills who is goal-oriented and able to take the station forward.

¨ Able to meet deadlines from the station and the national office.

¨ Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing and speaking skills.

¨ Previous experience in non-profit sector, especially public or community radio is very helpful.

¨ Planning, budgeting and excellent computer and Internet skills necessary.

¨ Able to work in a diverse workplace in a major urban market.

Position: FOLIO AND WEB SITE EDITOR

The Editor is responsible for a range of editorial and communications projects of central importance to the station. This half-time position includes acting as coordinating editor and contributing writer for both the station's Folio (program magazine) and its daily-updated Web site, as well as for all press and promotional materials.

Job responsibilities include:

¨ Acts as coordinating editor and contributing writer for the station's Folio and WBAI's website, including editing daily global/national/local news updates and commentaries, and supervising compilation of a community events calendar and a WBAI/Pacifica News section of the website.

Co-ordinates the publication and distribution of the Folio in both print and electronic formats.

Qualifications include:

¨ Excellent communication, writing, editing and speaking skills.

¨ Experience and knowledge of broadcasting, especially in public/community media.

¨ Computer skills, research, Internet and record keeping capabilities.

¨ Strong organizational and administrative skills, and ability to work with a diverse, multi-cultural population in a major urban area. College degree or equivalent past experience is required.

¨ At least 3 years of experience in editing position at a print or online publication is necessary, along with past work in news writing.

¨ Background in public relations work is desirable.
