Pending more detailed exploration of this later, one question.
Why is it possible to isolate _political smartness_ as a distinct species or genus of intelligence but not isolate "high grades at Harvard or Yale" as an _equally_ distinct species or genus of intelligence, equally unrelated to anything that one could call intelligence in general?
There are, of course, many cultures or social arrangements, past and presumably future, in which neither of these two species of intelligence would be much more interesting than the ability to wiggle one's ears.
