I don't know, but 1000 troops is just a token presence, if we compared it with total number of US troops involved. Compare this 20,000 troops India has been asked to provide. (Indian government is yet to decide on this question.) Or Pakistan has been asked to provide 10,000 troops. Btw, US is not going bear the cost of deploying these troops. India is expected bear the costs of deploying troops in Iraq. so there is no immediate financial gain.
