India's software industry is small by global standards. Exports in fiscal 02-03 were about $10 bn. Exports to US were about $ 6-7 bn. These figures include billing for onshore work.Press reports indicate that the global software market was about $ 450 bn in 2000. So India's market share is a tiny fraction of global market. Even if Indian software industry continues to grow at current rates (annual growth of 25%), exports would be $40-50 bn by 2010, still a small share of global market.
I don't understand why there is this scare about job losses in the US.
