The article cited is: "Is the U.S. Repeating the Mistakes of Japan in the 1930s?" By John Dower

The article is very well researched and argued as Mike L. says, But, in fact, the author does not write "Another Comparison of U.S. to Fascism" as is implied by the misleading subject heading, but writes a sensible and calm comparision of the similarities involving imperialism and totalitarian zeal--two common elements of fascism. The author goes to great lengths not to use the word "fascism."

But even if the word fascism is used, the issue is how it is used. If the claim is that there are echoes and elements of fascism in the Bush II administration's rhetoric and actions, then this is defensible. If the allegation is that the Bush II administration is a fascist regime, this is easily refuted.
