I think this is a matter of taste. I had a gorgeous girlfriend (years ago) who could make herself even more heart-stoppingly beautiful with proper haircut and makeup -- I thought she looked especially good with very short hair -- and oddly, much worse with certain hairstyles. Too much makeup a la Tammy Faye is icky, but some, discreetly applied, can be really nice. But if you and your friends see past such superficialities, more power to you. I did once myself. But I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now. jks
