This is a very long but very clear article gives a detailed case study of how the CIA state within a state hasn't gone away one bit and continues functioning up until this very moment. It appeared on the front page of the weekend section in the Financial Times.

Considering how prominent and daily this trial is, it's kind of remarkable how it never shows up in any stories from Peru. The US connection so far revealed is a remarkably uncovered story. The coynesses in this article suggest how much more is there even after an article this long.

It's also remarkable that Montesinos, having lost so much and with so much reason to hate and take revenge, isn't talking. Makes you wonder what's been whispered in his ear.

And the US wonders why Latin America is so irrationally suspicious and anti-American sometimes.
