Perhaps it is because much of the Left has never been able to let go of behaviorism and social engineering. In public they may denounce (or not) Stalin's vulgar rantings on historical and dialectical materialism, but in secret they think he was on the right track..just think it needs a few tweaks here and there.
Chaos theory, by the way, would disturb their religious creed and they would take Prigogine out back and put a bullet through his head, if they could.
