During his interview with Doug a few months back Zizek stated that progressives needed to face up to the fact that we didn't have all the answers to the questions posed by our numerous troubles.

Nevertheless, he insisted, the crisis itself, which mounts in intensity - un-perceived by only the most ideologically sheltered or ostrich-like among us - will force the species to come up with solutions. Or...

The present system, in which cash and cruise missles rule, is simply unsustainable (can you imagine another thousand years of industrial pollution, nuclear proliferation and all the rest of it? - it's not going to happen). Technology has raised the stakes considerably.

Whatever follows may be worse (dystopic fiction stuff) but, good, bad or something beyond either category, change is on the way.
