My daughter, age 13, who has excellent instincts, but insists that socialism is a pipe dream, was musing in the car the other day, after a discussion about a number of concrete things in which this was a subtext, said, "I wish it wasn't all about money. But I don't see how else things could be." jks

...The problem almost always comes down to this: If they unplug from the machine, what is waiting for them?... DP

I am at work, so more later. But no matter how grim, barren, and potentially hopeless, unplugged reality has its virtues. For one thing, it is ultimately easier to deal with since it requires understanding, not fabrication. And for another, it has a foundation level security that is itself, self correcting. Trust the world to remind you, if you get too fancy with your explaintions or your plans. These usually don't work very well unless they are based on accurate perceptions and understandings.

And it ultimately isn't about money at all. Developing your own skills, thoughts, and understandings, as well as your relationships costs practically nothing---except time, work, and patience. Just like you can't really buy these, niether can you buy their rewards. These exist in a dimension of life that has nothing to do with money. Money can only facilitate these indirectly by providing the time.

The good news is because money per se is irrelevant to these developments, they can be had by any one who has the insight into how to go about it.
