Alterman was horrible; Hitch simply horrid. (Rose rambled as Rose does.)
Hitch is becoming nastier, meaner and more and more reactionary. I barely
recognize the guy anymore. A few more years and the transformation will be
complete -- Hitch the old rightwing bore, banging the table, huffing,
puffing and snorting his displeasure and contempt for anyone not in line
with his imperial vision.

Did you notice his Meir Kahane line, about how the world only loves America
when things like 9/11 happen? So what if the world fears us? Good. Fuck
them. Kahane used to say the same thing about Israel -- "We're loved after
every holocaust. We don't want love. We want RESPECT!" And he'd always close
with "This is a New Jew, baby!"

Now if Hitch would only grow back his beard . . .
