In other violence, the military spokesman said U.S. troops in western
Baghdad shot and killed an Iraqi boy on the roof of his house Thursday.
Gibson said soldiers had seen someone carrying an AK-47 assault rifle moving
from the back of the roof to the front.

"The soldiers determined the situation was hostile and engaged the
individual," he said. "It was not until after the search was under way that
they discovered that it was an 11-year-old boy."
